Austria is a fantastic destination for bikers. Marvelous routes and tracks take you along hills, valleys, mountain passes and hairpin bends. Some of the famous mountain passes in Austria are the GrossGlockner, the Timmelsjoch and for example the Schiestlhöhe. The GrossGlocknerstrasse has a total length of approximately 48 kilometers and takes the motorcyclist to an impressive height of almost 3800 meters with an inclination percentage of 12%. This is were you enjoy unforgettable panoramas combined with numerous hairpin bends. Also Tirol offers the biker lots of fun. In Salzburgerland after every curve the landscape surprises you with imposing mountain sides. In Karinthia, the most southern province, one finds many blue mountain lakes which can be rounded by motorbike. Do not forget that in Austria, for riding the highways (A-roads) and the various national roads (S-roads, S1 & B302) it is obligatory to have a valid higway vignette (Autobahnvignet).  For several roads one needs to pay toll as well. The highway vignette can be bought in Austria at petrol stations and tobacconists as well as from from the automobile clubs ÖAMTC en ARBÖ. Also a few petrolstations along the German highways direction Austria supply them. This vignette needs to be be applied on the inside of the windscreen or on a fixed part of the motorcycle where it is clearly visible.
